We hope this message finds you well. In a year where good news is hard to come by, it is encouraging to know the Baptist Collegiate Ministries of Greater Nashville (BCMGN) have been faithfully serving students this semester across Belmont, Lipscomb, and Vanderbilt campuses. Our directors have had to get creative with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis. Some meetings happen over video chat and in person gatherings may be limited to a few students or even one on one discipleship. This has been challenging, but absolutely worth it. It is worth it because college students are facing loneliness in growing numbers. In a survey done by the American College Health Association over 63% of students said they had felt very lonely in the past twelve months*. These are PRE-COVID numbers. This crisis will only add to the number of students seeking deep and meaningful relationships. Students need community. More than that students need encouraging, Christian community. And although it has looked different this year, the BCMs of Greater Nashville have helped meet that need. Elizabeth Stuphin, a Junior at Belmont said, “Being a part of the Belmont BCM has given me a chance to connect with some incredible people who never fail to put a smile on my face, speak truth into my life, and lift one another up in prayer. The BCM is such an intentional and authentic source of community that will always hold a special place in my heart.” The Lord does not need our help in making disciples of these students, but rather He invites us into an opportunity to be a part of His work among them. One way you can be a part of His work is donating to our BCMGN 2020 fundraising goal of $10,000. |
